Dog Healing

A huge part of my healing journey has been with my dogs, I never had a dog whilst I was young. But as soon as I could I rescued a dog, his name was Brandy and he was a german shepherd cross. Brandy broke me into dog guardianship in a beautiful way. He really was the perfect dog he guarded my children as they grew up and kept us all safe.

My next dog was a staffiex called Jake. Jake had been in and out of foster care for most of his life. When I took Brandy to meet him I really was not very sure as he put his head through the cat flap and looked very vicious. We went for a walk with them both and Brandy gave his seal of approval.  Jake later came home with me, he was a very disturbed dog. He would run around the house 24 hours a day unable to relax and switch off. That first evening my husband came home and said “what have you brought home now?” I replied by telling him how no one else wanted Jake and he would have been put to sleep had we not taken him in. With that Jake came running through the kitchen wearing the cat flap around his neck. My husband looked at me and rolled his eyes walking away.

Jake was a huge challenge nothing I knew would work so I thought about how I reached stressed horses. I then applied the same thing but with Jake on a dog lead. After twenty minutes of brain work he went inside and slept for 24 hours. I now had a doorway in and started healing Jake, he was never an easy dog and had to be watched all the time. He would bite and cyclists were his favorite!   He showed me during a healing that he had gone to a cyclist for help when he had

been abandoned. The cyclist kicked him and the result for the rest of Jake’s life was that he would get his own back.   Jake had absolutely no recall he was as stubborn as they came. This ended up with him always being on a long lead. Where ever I was Jake was tethered near by, Jake came to me at 2 years old. At the age of 18 I had to make the decision that it was time for him to leave me. His body could not cope any longer, he was my protector and he hated leaving me.

During Jake’s life we took in another rescue a 2 year old black working cocker called Issy. He turned out to be the perfect dog he was my companion and went every where with me.   Apart from being slightly over enthusiastic when my son took him beating he never put a paw wrong. He worked with me helping me healing. If a lady was upset and crying Issy would be at her feet with a paw on her leg.   Issy was the most amazing healing dog, recently Issy passed over rainbow bridge. He was 12 years old and had a bad heart, in May this year something made me look at the rescue websites. There looking at me was a chocolate cocker. I took Issy to see him and they got on like a house on fire. His name is Ronnie and I can honestly say that Issy brought him to us. After 12 weeks of having Ronnie Issy had a quiet day, it was a Friday. He some times did if he had done to much. I went to bed feeling uneasy and at 3am I woke in a panic knowing Issy needed me. I went down stairs and Issy died in my arms at 3.15am. There had not been a days illness, he had come into our lives and taught us all so much.

So now we have only Ronnie who has brought so much joy to my life through the dark days after loosing Issy. He now comes to work with me and is receiving lots of healing himself. Ronnie is 20 months old and has had three homes. As the weeks have gone by he has settled and become confident. He is such a loving dog with so much to give that he must have been very hurt when people gave up on him.

So Ronnie is in his forever home and we are embarking on our life journey together. I have been asked more and more go give healing to dogs and after witnessing so many amazing healings it is now time to include them in my healing work.

Everything is the same as when I heal horses, I scan the dog and then get to work. I give you what ever they give to me healing helps them to release the past and take a step into the future.
